Priority enrollment window closes May 24th!
SALT is an elective-focused co-op, meaning Language Arts, Writing, and Math are NOT specifically covered in our curriculum. Although many of our projects and assignments utilize and incorporate these disciplines within the work, these core subjects will need to be taught in-depth, separately, independently, and at your child's own pace at home, utilizing curriculum and methods that are best suited to your family.
SALT's elective curriculum IS, however, designed and intented to be used as the primary curriculum studied for the following subjects in elementary and middle school:
Science
History & Social Studies
Geography
Bible
Art
Music
Presentations & Public Speaking
Families are more than welcome to supplement the required texts, readings, and activities at home, if desired, but our curriculum and course of study at SALT is meant to be used as the core of your student's elective studies. In our experience, trying to use an entirely different curriculum that is sold as “whole” or “complete,” alongside what is done at SALT (such as Sonlight, Abeka, Generations, or online programs, etc.) will most likely be overwhelming and unsuccessful.
In addition to rigorous and comprehensive academic offerings that challenge and inspire students, SALT also includes opportunities for community service, leadership development, and spiritual growth. We believe that education should consider and encompass the whole child.
The co-op is designed to facilitate and allow homeschooled students to practice important social and life skills like public speaking, teamwork with peers on group projects, accepting accountability and responsibility for their own work, adhering to deadlines, building leadership skills, and respecting all authority figures.
SALT predominately uses materials from “My Father’s World” as the backbone curriculums that help guide and shape the overall layout, courses of study, and content for all of our class levels.
