SET APART
From the Hebrew word קָדַשׁ qadash (kaw-dash’)
[verb]: to set apart, to consecrate, to sanctify, to prepare, to dedicate, be hallowed, be holy, be separate (Strong’s H6942)
Used a total of 172 times throughout the Old Testament, the word is used to describe the foreordained appointment, recognition, separation, and call to holiness by the Father. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart [qadash]…” Jeremiah 1:5
The same word is also used to describe the gathering and call to sanctification; the purification and consecration of the Bride, the Church in the earth, in preparation for the return of her Bridegroom, Christ. “Blow the trumpet in Zion…gather the people. Consecrate [qadash] the congregation; assemble the elders; gather the children, even nursing infants. Let the bridegroom leave his room, and the bride her chamber.” Joel 2:15-16
The acronym SALT also references Jesus’ teaching in the Sermon on the Mount. “You are the salt of the earth…You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” Matthew 5:13-14
